The UCO College of Mathematics and Science integrates cutting-edge technology into its programs to enhance student learning and research. From advanced labs to state-of-the-art equipment, students can access tools that help them explore complex scientific concepts and solve real-world problems. Whether through computational simulations, laboratory data analysis or tech-driven field research, the college ensures that students have the technical skills needed for modern scientific careers, fostering innovation and hands-on experience in classroom and research environments.
Buddy Supercomputer
Buddy, funded by the National Science Foundation, is a 168-node supercomputer for research and education. Research projects include particle transport, micromixing, stochastic modeling, ecological modeling, bio-informatics and the spread of disease.
Access to Buddy
Access is available for faculty or students working on a project at UCO or with a UCO faculty member. To request access, email the HPC Center.
With access, Buddy can be accessed online. We use the Open OnDemand software, which makes it easy to set up jobs and use interactive graphical user interfaces.
BuddyGPT
BuddyGPT is an LLM service that provides UCO researchers with access to open source AI models such as Qwen3-Coder-Next and GPT-OSS. It is hosted entirely on UCO's on-premises resources, ensuring that chats, documents, and models are not shared between users nor used for training.
Free for the UCO community, BuddyGPT assists with everyday academic tasks — allowing you to draft essays, refine prose, debug code, summarize papers, and solve complex problems using open models running right on campus.
To request access, reach out to hpc@uco.edu with the subject line "BuddyGPT Access Request".
With access, BuddyGPT can be accessed online. For full details on setup and usage, visit the documentation page.
