What is Buddy? Buddy is a 168-node supercomputer used for research and education. Research projects include particle transport, micromixing, stochastic modeling, ecological modeling, bio-informatics and the spread of disease.
How to reset password? Log into Buddy OnDemand , Go to Clusters > Buddy Shell Access and use the passwd command. Your new password must contain at least 8 characters, a capital letter, a number, and must not contain any words or phrases.
Where is Buddy located? Buddy the supercomputer is located in UCO STEM Building Room 116A.
How do I cite/acknowledge my use of Buddy when publishing research? Please cite Buddy in your publications using our DOI. DOI
What is BuddyGPT? BuddyGPT is an LLM service that gives the UCO community access to open source AI models such as Qwen3-Coder-Next and GPT-OSS, hosted entirely on UCO's on-premises resources. Chats and documents are not shared between users nor used for training.
Is my data private? Yes. BuddyGPT operates locally on UCO hardware; your data will never be sold or used for model training. To keep the system safe, please follow cluster rules by keeping sensitive data — like student grades or personal health info — off the platform.
Which models are available? BuddyGPT provides access to open source models such as Qwen3-Coder-Next, and GPT-OSS. For the current list of available models, see the documentation page.
How is it different from ChatGPT? BuddyGPT is hosted directly on UCO’s campus rather than by a commercial provider like ChatGPT. This means your data stays local, is never used to train commercial models, and is completely free for the UCO community using open-source models
Is it free for UCO students? Yes. BuddyGPT is free for the UCO research community. To request access, email hpc@uco.edu with the subject line "BuddyGPT Access Request".
